Lone Star, BIG-MARKET event staffing.

Texas Event Staffing — W-2 crews across 10 markets, Houston to El Paso.

Houston is the US's fourth-largest city. Texas runs no state income tax. TABC certification is not optional at any licensed event.

We staff 10 Texas cities — Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Fort Worth, El Paso, Arlington, Corpus Christi, Plano, and Lubbock — with W-2 crews, workers' comp, liability, and a paper trail. SXSW is a line item, not a surprise.

TempGuru's Texas operation is part of a national network spanning 300+ markets and 5,000+ events staffed in the past 12 months.

Plate IV · Process

How it works.

I

You outline.

Event scope, venue, dates, staffing needs. We ask the questions that matter — load-in times, venue layout, TABC requirements, crowd management expectations.

II

Pre-qualified agencies bid.

Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Austin agencies all compete. You see crew rosters before anyone signs anything.

III

We confirm.

24–48 hour turnaround. Same-day available in Houston and Dallas metro. W-2 staff, insured, TABC-verified where required.

V
Plate V · Field Notes

Only in Texas.

#tabc

TABC is not optional at any licensed event.

Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission certification is required for every bartender, server, or floor staff member who handles alcohol. We verify current certification before every placement. An expired TABC card is grounds for removal from a TempGuru roster — immediately.

#sxsw

SXSW staffing books out 6-8 weeks in advance.

Austin's festival circuit — SXSW, ACL, Formula 1 USGP — compresses 8 weeks of demand into a market that's only so big. We start building SXSW rosters in January. If you're calling in February for a March event, you'll get what's left. Book early.

#heat

Texas summer heat is a safety protocol, not a weather note.

Outdoor events between June and September require mandatory heat illness prevention: shade rotation, hydration stations, wet-bulb temperature monitoring above 95°F. We build these into every outdoor summer contract. Texas heat sends staff to the ER faster than any other single factor.

#stadium

DFW has three of the top-20 US event venues by capacity.

AT&T Stadium (100K), the Cotton Bowl (92K), and Dickies Arena anchor a DFW event calendar that runs 365 days. Stadium-scale events require crowd flow expertise and multi-team coordination that smaller agencies cannot staff alone.

#size

Texas is as large as France. Logistics reflect that.

Houston to El Paso is 750 miles. Competent coverage requires real local partners in West Texas, the Hill Country, the Gulf Coast, and the Metroplex — not just a Dallas office with a mileage policy.

#energy

The energy sector drives a unique conference calendar.

Houston runs the oil and gas industry's largest annual events — CERAWeek, OTC, and hundreds of private energy company meetings. Energy sector clients expect operational precision and discretion that most event staffing agencies can't deliver.

Texas is operationally the most complex single-state market we staff. Not because of compliance — there's no state income tax, TABC is straightforward, and Texas labor law is employer-friendly. It's complex because of scale. The state is larger than France. Houston and El Paso are 750 miles apart and might as well be different countries for staffing purposes. Austin during SXSW is a completely different market than Austin in August. The energy sector expects a level of operational precision and discretion that festival staffing does not train for. What makes it work is that we don't pretend to have one Texas office that serves the whole state. We have real local agencies — in Houston's Energy Corridor, in the Metroplex, in Austin's tech belt, and in West Texas — all on W-2 payrolls. One contract to sign. That's the only way Texas works.

Texas Event Market

Houston hosts the world's largest livestock show and rodeo, some of the largest oil and gas industry conferences, and ranks among the top 5 US convention cities. Dallas-Fort Worth operates three of the top-20 US event venues by capacity and runs a 365-day corporate conference calendar. Austin anchors the US festival economy with SXSW, ACL, and the Formula 1 US Grand Prix — three major events that collectively fill Austin's event labor market for 8 consecutive weeks each fall and spring.

Texas event staffing complexity scales with the state's physical size. Competent statewide coverage requires local agency presence in at least four distinct markets: the Houston Energy Corridor, the DFW Metroplex, the Austin tech belt, and West Texas. A Dallas office with a mileage rate is not coverage. It is a billing mechanism.
